| I plan to use this "Links" page in a bit of a free-wheeling manner.....a little of this and a little of that. While I will post information about shows and awards, I will also post links to my favorite sources of general photography, digital imaging, and software information. Fell free to contact me and let me know what you find useful.
Articles An Unconventional Recommendation - An article about the basics of using Contax Zeiss lenses on Canon (or any non-Contax) cameras. This was published in Michael Johnston's eclectic publication, The 37th Frame, in September of 2005. Click on the title to read. Photography And Truth - The title says it all. Should fine art photography always depict 'the truth'? What about other photographic genres? Podcasts There are many photography related podcasts available. The ones I list below are, in my opinion, superb and well worth one's time. The Candid Frame: Ibarionex Perello's engrossing interviews with photographers of note. As described on The Candid Frame website, it is "a photography podcast where you meet some of the world's best established and emerging photographers in the world of photojournalism, fashion, landscape, documentary, sports, wildlife, travel and commercial photography." Check out the interview with D Stevens (Episode 6). Amazing stuff.
Camera Position: One of the pioneers in combining podcasts and education, Jeff Curto describes his podcast as " a podcast about the visual and creative processes in photography, not the technical. Using images and the spoken word, my podcasts are about the “why” of photography from the point of view of the creative photographer. The podcasts themselves are only about 10 minutes long, but I guarantee that you will be thinking about the ideas brought up for longer than that.
Jeff Curto's History of Photography Course: Did I mention that Jeff Curto is a pioneer in combining podcasts and education. This podcast of his college lectures is an absolute requirement as far as I am concerned. Sorry, though, you will have to audit the course, no on-line college credits given. Just listen, you will be glad you did.
Lenswork: Brooks Jenson's podcast is devoted to the creative side of art and photography. The topics are varied but always engrossing and timely. Once you start listening you simply can't get enough. When I discovered this podcast, I was so taken aback that I purchased the entire series of them on CD. The good news is that they are now all available, free of charge, on the Lenswork website. While you are at it, subscribe to Lenswork magazine. Trust me, you won't be sorry you did.
